The NXT hardware family includes 2 and 4 door controllers, plus a controller version with embedded firmware by Mercury Security. Both controller types have TCP/IP connectivity and can be very easily added to the software using a controller scan feature. The NXT 2D and 4d controllers are designed to be extremely intelligent with no reliance on the host PC for access control decision-making. Once the controllers have received an update they will continue to work 'standalone' (even if the connection to the host PC is lost). And even if power goes down at the controller, the system database is retained on a 3V backup battery.
NXT-MSC (embedded Mercury) controllers can be setup using a static IP address or a DHCP address. Standard NXT controllers are added using Keri's proprietary MAC address scheme - which allows for reliable hardware discovery and true one-button auto-configuration.
To manage the system, Doors.NET software has much of the same look and feel as Keri’s acclaimed original Doors32™ software, but with the added functionality of a Client/Server architecture.
The Mercury-Powered version of the NXT controller gives you all the standard access control capability but by embedding Mercury's firmware in the controllers, a whole new set of features become available for applications with more sophisticated and customized requirements such as: the ability to add NXT Exit readers (giving you true IN/OUT reader capability), Anti-Passback, cardholder usage counts, two-card rule and other advanced reader options. With an alteration to your license key you can also purchase the ability to use Elevator Control, Area Control, Advanced Situation Manager and a host of other features and enhancements which are available with the powerful Local Linkage module. All this greatly broadens the scope of NXT hardware capability, such that it makes it a good choice for high-end and Enterprise applications as well as mid-sized projects that demand high end features. As with standard NXT controllers you can also add up to four additional NXT 4x4 modules.
To expand the system’s flexibility, up to two companion 4X4 Input/Output boards (NXT-4X4) can be added - one to each of the controller’s RS-485 trunks (buses). The 4x4 modules can be used for additional access control functionality, for monitoring non-reader access doors, for creating powerful automated I/O action sequences using Global Linkage, Local Linkage or System Calendar or can be used to control up to 4 floors of elevator control. The module can be connected anywhere along the RS-485 trunk/buss, most commonly at the controller or near a reader. One module can be added per trunk, allowing up to an extra 8 inputs and 8 outputs on an NXT-2D Controller and an extra 16
inputs and 16 outputs on an NXT-4D Controller.
Customers can choose between Keri’s line of highly secure, 4-wire NXT Series Proximity Readers with reader status supervision that also provide In/Out reading capability (4 Readers), or any reader with a standard Wiegand output or Keri’s MS Series Proximity Readers via the NXT-RM3 Reader Interface Module. They can now also be configured to read HID 125 KHz cards and tags, thus providing all of the benefits listed above and eliminating the need for an NXT-WI or NXT-RM3 Reader Interface Board.
NXT Readers are also available as In/Out reading capable - (this will give you the ability to use 4 Entry reader and 4 Exit readers on a 4D controller - so a total of 8 readers).
NXT Readers can be ordered as "In" or "Out" readers when used with NXT Controllers (Mercury-Powered versions), which doubles the controller's reader capacity. For "Out" readers, specify model numbers with an E at end of model number (i.e. NXT-3RE). Each of the controller's buses can have an Entry reader and an Exit reader connected to it. NXT Exit readers are also compatible with HID 125 KHz cards and tags.
Note: NXT Exit reader (In/Out reading) is ONLY supported with NXT-MSC controllers.
